Promoting LGBTQ+ Voices in STEM
The workshop provides practical examples of how to best raise the profile of LGBTQIA+ people within your organisation and how to effectively engage with the community. Dr Alfredo Carpineti has almost a decade of experience in running the award-nominated Pride in STEM, the largest LGBTQ+ in STEM charity in the United Kingdom.
He draws on his experience from the charity sector, his journalistic work on IFLScience which has 22 million followers, and his upcoming debut book Invisible Rainbows (Unbound) to discuss how to best platform, support, and highlight the contributions of LGBTQIA+ people.
The event includes 10 to 50 signed copies of the book to be delivered as it is published next year depending on the length and structure of the workshop. It is usually one hour long but it can be extended with a more interactive part making people reflect on their experiences.
